APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE ASIA FOREIGN STUDY SCHOLARSHIP (THE ASSOCIATED CHINESE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF HUNGARY-LISZT FERENC ACADEMY OF MUSIC PROGRAM-HUNGARY)
The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hungary-Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music Program-Hungary) is a scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hungary and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. The program seeks to promote further cooperation and development between Hungary and China in the realm of education, better carry forward the music of Asia and the Chinese people, cultivate more high-level musical talent, strengthen ties between Asia and Europe through educational exchange, and work to improve the overall quality of education in Asia.
10 full scholarships are provided for the 2005/2006 academic year.
1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Languages of Instruction
1) This program is for Music Master’s students only.
2) The scholarship will be valid for a period of 2 years.
3) The languages of instruction are English and Hungarian.
2. Application
1) Applicants may be recommended by an organization or school.
2) Applicants may also apply individually. (Please attach an Embassy letter of recommendation.)
3) Applications will be accepted at any time. Students will take part in unified auditions.
3. Eligibility
1) Students must be from an Asian country or region (including China) and in good health.
2) Prospective students must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in musical studies.
3) Applicants must be between 22-40 years of age.
4) A good command of English is a condition of admission. Applicants must earn a Band 7 on the IELTS examination.
5) Candidates with a fundamental knowledge of Hungarian will be given priority.
6) Students with a criminal record will not be considered.
4. Details of the Scholarship
1) The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hungary will cover fees for scholarship post-graduate students at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Registration Fee: 80 Euros, 1st Year Tuition: 7800 Euros (includes study of Hungarian Language), 2nd Year Tuition: 7000 Euros, Room Fees: 2600-3000 Euros per academic year.
2) Students will cover all other expenses.
5. Areas of Study
1) Keyboard Instruments and Harp: 4 scholarships
2) Vocal Performance and Opera: 2 scholarships
3) String Instruments: 4 scholarships
Note: Applicants may choose from the above disciplines but must complete a successful audition on the chosen instrument.
6. Application Materials
All applicants must provide the following materials completely and truthfully:
1) Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (China Program), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or English
2) A notarized copy of highest diploma and official transcripts. If an applicant is a university student or already employed, he or she should also provide verification documents. Documents not in Chinese or English must have attached translations. (Please provide 3 copies of each set of documents.)
3) A study or research plan written in English. (3 copies)
4) Two letters of recommendation by two professors or associate professors written in English. (3 copies of each)
5) All students must submit to a physical examination no longer than 3 months before registration.
6) A completed Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music application form. (3 copies)
7) IELTS score report (3 copies)
7. Approval and Notification
1) The Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia will review all application materials and forward them to the appropriate organizations, which will make the final decision. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicant is not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulation, or materials are incomplete.
2) Upon the completion of a successful audition, accepted students will receive an official letter of acceptance and will be notified of specific class times.
