Hunan NormalUniversity Program

The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Hunan Normal University Program is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia byHunanNormalUniversity. The Education Forum for Asia Secretariat andHunanNormalUniversityco-administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.

There are 5 partial scholarships provided for the 2014/2015 academic year.

1.  Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction

1)  This program sponsors Chinese Language scholars and/or bachelor degree scholars.

2)  Duration of scholarship: 1 semester or 1 year.

3)  All courses will be taught in Chinese. For the bachelor degree scholars, the Mandarin level should meet the requi

rement of learning the major applied; for the Chinese language scholars, there is no requirement for the Mandarin.

2.  Application

1)   Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through the Chinese Embassy in the host country, 

or through their own embassy inChinato Education Forum forAsia;

2)   An application can be filled out according to the official website ofHunanNormalUniversity

http://www.hunnu.edu.cn/english/(print off a hard copy);

3)   The deadline for all applications is May 20, 2014.

3.   Eligibility

1)   Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.

2)   Applicants must have completed at least senior high school studies and be under the age of 45.

4.   Details of the Scholarship 

1)   This partial scholarship program covers tuition fees and admission fees.

2)   Any other expenses are expected to be self-

funded including the following references: 600 RMB per month for double room, 1200 RMB for single room , in-

city travel and other incidental expenses of 300~500 RMB per month, 300 RMB for textbooks per semester, 600 R

MB insurance charge per year, 400 RMB for the application for residence permit, 450 RMB for medical checkup.

5.         Application Materials

Applicants must provide the following materials filled in correctly and truthfully.

1)  Application Form (see attachment 1 or access via http://www.hunnu.edu.cn/english)

for Hunan Normal University, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English

2)  A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students 

or already employed, they should also provide verification documents.  Documents in languages other than Chinese 

or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.  Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than

Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.

3)  A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words.

4)  The Foreigner Physical Examination Form (see attachment 2) should be filled out in English. Medical examinatio

ns must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those withou

t the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of a hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will 

be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requeste

d to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.

5)  A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.

The abovementioned materials should be received by Education Forum forAsia, at the latest, by May 20, 2014. App

lication materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.

6.  Majors Choosing

The applicants can choose majors as follows:

Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese, History, Economics, Music, Philosophy, Fine Arts.

7.  Approval and Notification

1)  Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to mak

e necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Education Forum forAsiawill 

directly contact the applicant or the applicant’s guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwar

ded toHunanNormalUniversityand the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The applic

ation will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment r

egulations, or the materials are incomplete.

2)  Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.

3)  Education Forum forAsiawill have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202)

 sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received.
