Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Application Procedures
Capital University of Economics and Business Program
The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Capital University of Economics and Business Program is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Capital University of Economics and Business. The Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia and the Capital University of Economics and Business co-administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.
There are 5 partial scholarships provided for the 2013/2014 academic year.
1. Categories of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship and Language of Instruction
1) This program sponsors 2 language scholars and 2 bachelor degree scholars or master degree or doctor degree;
2) The duration of the scholarship is 1 year, and the bachelor’s degree, master degree or doctor degree scholars have a possibility of renewal based on academic performance.
2. Application
1. Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through the Chinese Embassy in the host country, or through their own embassy in China to Education Forum for Asia;
2. An application for Bachelor students can be filled out according to the website of Capital University of Economics and Business www.cuebie.net; www.cuebie.net.cn; www.cuebie.com or www.cueb.edu.cn (print off a hard copy);
3. The deadline for all applications is May 20, 2013;
4. Eligibility
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
2) Educational background and age limits:
★Language students must have completed at least high school studies and be under the age of 55.
★Bachelor students must have finished at least high school studies and be under the age of 40.
3) Requirement for the language and examination:
★There is no Mandarin requirement for the language students.
★The applicants for the Bachelor’s degree should pass the Chinese Proficiency Test HSK, Level 5 (the equivalent of old HSK, Level 6) and the university math examination.
5. Details of the Scholarship
1) This partial scholarship only covers tuition (or research) fees;
2) The student will be responsible for any other expenses. This includes the following expenses: double-room accommodation, 10,000 RMB; basic food expenses, 10,000 RMB; city travel and other incidental expenses5, 000 RMB; and insurance charges of 600 RMB per year;
6. Application Materials
The applicants must provide the following materials filled in correctly and truthfully;
1) Application Form for Capital University of Economics and Business ( see Attachment 1 or access via http://www.cuebie.net/web/sqb_new.htm ), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or English;
2) Notarized copy of the applicant’s highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or are already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations;
3) A study or research plan written in Chinese or English (no less than 400 words) for language scholars; A copy of your Chinese HSK language level certification for bachelor’s degree scholars;
4) A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (see Attachment 2) should be filled out in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination;
5) A photocopy of the front page of the applicant’s valid passport.
The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia, at the latest, by May 20, 2013. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.
7. Approval and Notification
1) Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Forum will directly contact the applicant or the applicant guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Capital University of Economics and Business and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete.
2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.
3) Education Forum for Asia will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received.
