Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Application Procedures
Sichuan University Program
The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Sichuan University Program is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Sichuan University. The Education Forum for Asia Secretariat and Sichuan University co-administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.
There are 5 partial scholarships provided for the 2013/2014 academic year.
1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction
1) This program sponsors Chinese Language scholars and bachelor degree (bachelor of medicine is not included)scholars.
2) Duration of scholarship: 1 semester or 1 year.
3) All courses will be taught in Chinese. For the bachelor degree scholars, the Mandarin level should meet the requirement of learning the major applied (HSK level 5); for the Chinese language scholars, there is no requirement for the Mandarin.
2. Application
1) Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through the Chinese Embassy in the host country, or through their own embassy inChinato Education Forum forAsia;
2) An application can be filled out according to the official website of Sichuan Universityhttp://www.scu.edu.cn/ (print off a hard copy) or the attached form (see form );
3) The deadline for all applications is June 5th , 2013.
3. Eligibility
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
2) Applicants must have completed at least senior high school studies and be under the age of 45.
4. Details of the Scholarship
1) This partial scholarship program covers tuition fees.
2) Any other expenses are expected to be self-funded including the following references: 600 RMB for the registration fees, per month for double room, 1200 RMB for single room, 1500-2000 RMB for off-campus apartment shared by 2-3 people, in-city travel and other incidental expenses of 300-500 RMB per month, 300 RMB for textbooks per semester, 600 RMB insurance charge per year, 400 RMB for the application for residence permit, 430 RMB for medical checkup.
5. Application Materials
Applicants must provide the following materials filled in correctly and truthfully.
1) Application Form (see attachment or access via http://www.scu.edu.cn/)for Sichuan University, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English
2) A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.
3) A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words.
4) The Foreigner Physical Examination Form (see attachment) should be filled out in English. Medical examinations must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of a hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.
5) A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.
The abovementioned materials should be received by Education Forum for Asia, at the latest, by June 5, 2013. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.
6. Approval and Notification
1) Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Education Forum forAsiawill directly contact the applicant or the applicant’s guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Sichuan University and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or the materials are incomplete.
2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.
3) Education Forum forAsiawill have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received.
