Application Procedures for The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship – Macao University of Science and Technology Program The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Macao University of Science and Technology Program) is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Macao University of Science and Technology. Education Forum for Asia and Macao University of Science and Technology administers the recruitment and routine management of the program. 5 partial scholarship seats will be provided for the 2008/2009 academic year. 1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction 1) This program sponsors students pursuing undergraduate studies or engaging in general scholar study. 2) Duration of scholarship: 1 year. 3) Courses will be taught in Chinese and English or in complete Chinese, depending on specialized programs applicants choose[1]. Applicants shall provide the university with proof of highest language proficiency before the official enrollment. 2. Application Applicants should apply to Education Forum for Asia via the Chinese embassy in their home country or the embassy of their home country in China. Applications will be accepted up to June 1st, 2008. 3. Eligibility 1) All applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health. 2) Students wishing to do undergraduate work must have graduated from high school. 3) Students engaging in advanced studies must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. 4) Education Forum for Asia will enroll on the basis of competitive selection. 4. Details of the Scholarship 1) The scholarship covers tuition costs. 2) Students will be responsible for all other expenses. 5. Application Materials The applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully. 1) filled Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (printed by Education Forum for Asia) 2) filled Application Form for Macao University of Science and Technology 3) A notarized copy of highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. 4) Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English, preferably by applicants’ tutors or employers. 5) A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words. 6) All applicants must present a physical examination report and vaccination record at registration. This exam should be given within 3 months of application. Applicants may either undergo a physical examination in their home country or make an appointment for an exam after arrival in Macau at either the Macau Health Center or the Kiang Wu Hospital. 7) The photocopy of valid passport, the front page The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia by the latest June 1st, 2008. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not. 6. Selection of Discipline Scholarship applicants at Macau University of Science and Technology may choose from the following discipline: Law (in Chinese and English), Administration and Management (in Chinese and English), Traditional Chinese Medicine (in Chinese), Information Technology (in Chinese and English). Approval and Notification 1) Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Forum will directly contact the application or the applicant guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Macao University of Science and Technology and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete. 2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed. 3) Education Forum for Asia will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received. 8.
