APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE ASIA
FOREIGN STUDY SCHOLARSHIP
(SHANDONG UNIVERSITY PROGRAM)
The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Shandong University Program, China) was set up by Shandong University of China The Education Forum for Asia (EFA) and Shandong University co-administers the recruitment and the routine management of the program.
4 partial scholarships will be provided for Asia-Pacific countries for 3 years in series since 2007 academic year.
1. Categories of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Languages of Instruction
1) This program sponsors only Scholars for Chinese language study for the duration of 1 year.
2) Courses will be taught in Chinese without any language requirement to applicants.
2. Application
Applicants should apply to the Chinese embassy in their home countries, applications will be forwarded to the Education Forum for Asia (individual application will not be accepted). Applications are accepted from the beginning of January to the end of April.
3. Eligibility
1) Applicants must be nationals from New Zealand, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore or Mongolia in good health;
2) Educational background and age limits:
★Applicants for Chinese language study must have at least a high school diploma and under the age of 40.
4. Details of the Scholarship
1) This partial scholarship program covers registration fee and tuition fee;
2) The students will be responsible for all other expense (These expense include single-room accommodation for oversea student 35~70 RMB/day, food expense 9,000 RMB/year in general, intercity travel and other incidental expenses 6,000 RMB/year, insurance charge 600 RMB/year).
5. Application Materials
All Applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully.
a) Application Form for Asia foreign Study Scholarship (Shandong University Program) (printed by Education Forum for Asia), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.
b) Shandong University Oversea Students Application Form for Study in China, in Chinese or English.
c)A notarized copy of highest diploma. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have translations in Chinese or English.
d) A study or research plan written in Chinese or English (no less than 200 words).
e) A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (only for those whose period of study in China lasts over six months) filled out in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.
The abovementioned materials should be received by the Shandong University by April 30th. Application materials will not be returned regardless of whether or not the applicants are accepted.
6. Selection of Institutions and Discipline
Applicants for Shandong University Partial Scholarship Program will study Chinese language in International Education College of Shandong University. If you need more information about this program please visit the homepage of Shandong University at http://www.cie.sdu.edu.cn.
7. Approval and Notification
1) The EFA will review all the application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Shandong University, and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicants are not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with the recruitment regulations, or are incomplete.
2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of studies are, in principle, not to be changed.
3) The EFA will send the List of Enrolled Students, Admission Notice, and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) to the relevant dispatching authorities by July 31, so as to have these documents forwarded to the students.
