APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE ASIA FOREIGN

STUDY SCHOLARSHIP

(CAPITAL UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS PROGRAM CHINA)

 The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Capital University of Economics and Business Program, China) is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Capital University of Economics and Business. Education Forum for Asia and Capital University of Economics and Business administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.

2 partial scholarships are provided for the 2007/2008 academic year.

1.  Categories of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship and Language of Instruction

1) This program sponsors 1 language scholar and 1 general scholar

2) The duration of the scholarship is 1 year.

3) All courses will be taught in Chinese. Applicants studying economics should have intermediate level proficiency in Chinese language before starting formal study of a major.

2.  Application

Applicants should apply to Education Forum for Asia via the Chinese embassy in their home country or the embassy of their home country in China. Applications will be received from the beginning of January to the end of April.

3.  Eligibility

1)  Applicants must be non Chinese nationals in good health.

2)  Educational background and age limits:

★Language scholars must have graduated from high school and be under the age of 55.

★General scholars must have completed at least senior middle school study and be under the age of 55 with intermediate level proficiency in Chinese language before starting formal study.

4.  Details of the Scholarship

This partial scholarship only covers tuition (or research) fees. The student will be responsible for all other expenses.  This includes the following expenses: Double room accommodation 10,000 RMB, basic food expenses 10,000 RMB, intercity travel and other incidental expenses 5,000 RMB, insurance charge 600 RMB per year.

5.  Application Materials

The applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully.

1) Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (printed by Education Forum for Asia), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.

2) Application Form for Foreign Students Study, Capital University of Economics and Business, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.

3) Notarized copy of highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents.  Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.  Transcripts (notarized copy); transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.

4) Senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by two professors or associate professors.

5) A study or research plan written in Chinese or English (no less than 400 words).

6) A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (only for those whose period of study in China lasts over six months) filled out in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.

The abovementioned materials should reach to the Education Forum for Asia by April 30th. Application materials will not be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.

6.  Approval and Notification

1) The EFA will review all application materials. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicants are not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete.

2) Finalized placements, specialties and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.

3) The EFA will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant by July 31.
