Education Forum for Asia is an NGO that, since its origin in 2003, has been devoted to building bridges of communication in order to improve education throughout Asia and beyond. EFA is engaged in granting many scholarships to students throughout Asia each year, connecting different education groups in order to facilitate mutually beneficial exchanges, and increasing dialogue among many high level groups in order to assist in the development of education. 100,000 Students from the USA to Study in China?

President Obama recently made a commitment to have 100,000 American students come to China to study Chinese; however, many people are questioning whether this is a realistic goal. Mandarin, although increasing in popularity as a second language, is viewed as an extremely difficult language and therefore many students make different choices. A More Interactive Approach to Learning

Students at Fudan University are engaged in a program that is keeping them even busier than usual. The program is giving the students more practical experience working in real life situations for real companies under the supervision of their professors and other professionals working to try to cultivate the business leaders of tomorrow.   Getting into Kindergarten Not an Easy Task

Parents have been lining up and camping out on the street for over a week trying to earn a spot for their children in a state-run kindergarten facility. Even those parents booking 2 years in advance are being denied the guarantee of enrollment. For more information, click here.

 

 

Starting School Later in the Morning Beneficial for Teens

A recent experiment which had teens waking up a half hour later than normal gave shockingly positive results in terms of the students performances in class. The school that ran the experiment is now contemplating a permanent shift. For more information, click here.

 

 

Tobacco Ban in Schools Around China

A new law coming into place will see all smoking on school grounds, by any person, forbidden. This is an attempt to curb the rampant smoking issues in Mainland China, which is home to over 300 million smokers. For more information, click here.

 

 

Remarkably Selfless Teacher

Shi Lansong, a teacher, has been ferrying students across a lake every day, at his own expense, for 25 years. Earning a meager salary and living in poverty has not caused him to abandon the children of his village. For more information, click here.
