AsiaEDU News Flash

Education Forum for Asia is an NGO that, since its origin in 2003, has been devoted to building bridges of communication in order to improve education throughout Asia and beyond. EFA is engaged in granting many scholarships to students throughout Asia each year, connecting different education groups in order to facilitate mutually beneficial exchanges, and increasing dialogue among many high level groups in order to assist in the development of education. This year Beijing has seen a big rise in the amount of foreign students choosing China as a place to receive their education. The recent increase in quality and admission practices has been credited with the increase in popularity among international students. For more information, click here.

 

Chinese oral Proficiency Exam to be Expanded
 
A test measure one’s ability to speak Chinese (HKC) has been used on a small scale for the past couple years, but it is now ready to expand throughout China and to foreign countries as well. It will serve as a companion of the HSK written Chinese exam. For more information, click here.
 

 

Quake Hit Area’s Students Receive Advantage in College Admission Process
 
Students from Yushu, the area hit by the recent earthquake in Qinghai, will be rewarded extra points and be given a leg up in the competition for College entry this year. A recent study in the USA has revealed that the number one cause of bullying among school age children is obesity. The study reflects a growing prejudice against the obese throughout the USA. For more information, click here.

New Math Fund at Tsinghua
 
A new fund has been set up by a Harvard University mathematics professor in order to promote and encourage students with a prowess in mathematics. The fund has been given from prize money won in Israel by Shing-Tung Yau. For more information, click here.

 

Australian Education Stimulus Welcomed by Most
 
A recent government stimulus package for public schools around the country has been received warmly by the vast majority of people. Budget Cuts in the USA Having Devastating Effects on the Education System
