Education Forum for Asia is an NGO that, since its origin in 2003, has been devoted to building bridges of communication in order to improve education throughout Asia and beyond. EFA is engaged in granting many scholarships to students throughout Asia each year, connecting different education groups in order to facilitate mutually beneficial exchanges, and increasing dialogue among many high level groups in order to assist in the development of education.                                   Hu Jintao Pays Final Respects to Educator

 Hu Jintao attended a memorial service held for Sun Qimeng, a famous educator and social activist. Sun Qimeng passed away on March 2ndat the age of 100. For more details, click here.

 

                               Number of Foreign Students in China Reaches New Record

 The number of foreign students coming to China to study over the past year is up 6.6%, reaching a record high in the history of the PRC. The increase in foreign students is a reflection of the rising influence and presence of China on the world stage. For more information, click here.

 

                              

More Internships for Vocational Students

 The Chinese Government is pushing for increased vocational internship opportunities to meet increasing demand for labor. They hope that this will enable students to get more experience early and be trained under safe and fair circumstances. For more information, click here.

 

Shanghai to Provide Free Education to Children of Migrant Workers

The Shanghai government has made a decision to offer free education to the children of migrant workers. A representative of the government gives a 20 minute interview on how and why they have reached this decision. To watch the video, click here.

WorldBank approves education project in India

 The Education for All program has showed marked success throughout India as their standards of education are rapidly increasing and more and more children are gaining access to education everyday.                              Prize Awarded for Increasing the Effectiveness of Teachers

 A prize, funded by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum of Dubai, has been awarded to 3 individuals who have contributed to the effectiveness of teachers.  The $270,000 prize was split between the 3 winners. For more information, click here.

                             Many Pakistani Students Not Interested in US Scholarships

 Many students from Pakistan feel that by taking a scholarship in the USA and being subjected to a naked body scan, their dignity as a human being is being violated.                   New bill for free education making its way through Japanese parliament

In Japan a bill is passing through parliament to make tuition free for public high school students and to provide allowances for families raising children. US Health Care Bill Includes Student Loan Reform

During the passing of the recent USA Health Care Bill, a move to reform the structure of student loans was also put into the bill. The bill seeks to get more government involvement into student loans and make the loan process easier for students and cheaper by cutting out private middle men who charge high interest rates.
