The 2013 Annual Conference of Education Forum for Asia is supported by the Boao Forum for Asia, Ministry of Education of PRC, and People's Government of Sichuan Province and organized by the China National Commission for the UNESCO, National Center for Education Development Research, People's Government of Chengdu, Education Department of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affaires. This conference, which was held on Oct.24th to 26th in Jinjiang Hotel, has ended up with a full success.
In the noon of Oct. 26th, delegates from Australia, Canada, France, ROK, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, United States, Turkey, Malaysia, Chad, Djibouti, United Kingdom, Laos, Poland, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan, Tajikistan, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and other countries and regions gathered together, witnessing a successful close of the “2013 EFA Annual Conference and International Education Development Forum of West China”. The Closing Ceremony was presided over by Wang Xuming, the president of Language & Culture Press. On that occasion, You Sen, the deputy director of Chengdu Bureau of Expo Affairs and the chief of Planning Division of Development Planning Department of Ministry of Education, announced the achievements of the even development of education in Chengdu and Isabella Liu, the deputy secretary general as well as the executive director of Education Forum for Asia released the results of annual conference.
Themed on the “Green Education and Sustainable Development”, the six parallel sessions, like Diversified Demand and Supply in Training Market Forum, Ecological Education and Sustainable Business, Art Education and Culture Development Forum, Media Education Facing the Chanllege of New Media, International Early Childhood Education Forum, turned out to be such a success that there was no seat in the conference hall left empty. The exciting and inspiring speech by experts and scholars created great atmosphere in which heated debates and discussions were going on.
In autumn, the EFA is also harvesting its own fruit on its 10th annual conference. During the annual conference, the EFA has signed a strategic agreement with Chengdu Commercial Daily and a contract on scholarship donation with HSBC School of Peking University. A preschool education association was initiated by the experts from Japan, Singapore, Chinese Mainland, and Macau. Also, the EFA will, together with Chinese Association for Nongovernment Education, organized a delegation to conduct a study tour to Taiwan, Macau and Singapore. In order to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations of China and Malaysia, the EFA will work with the Yellow River Art Academy to host an exchange event of young artists from both countries. The EFA, Chinese Education Society, and the Commercial Chamber of Non- government Association of All China federation of Business and Industry will run a high-end education exchange project in Canada and U.S. The treatises Renewable Energy in China-towards a Green Economy, Back to Weiming Lake-reminiscence of an alumnus of Peking University and the Road to Transform China’s Economy have all been released. Besides, we are also joined by the secretary of the party committee of Tongjiang County, Wei Fude who shared their rich experience in how to develop the county in an environmentally friendly way. The plaque-presenting ceremony was also held on the closing ceremony.
The award ceremonies of scholarship universities and the 8th photographic contest have also come to a successful end, adding a very strikingly colorful brush to the conference. Moreover, the field visit by the delegates has shown the great potential of Chengdu in the education internationalization. As an education gala of Asia, the EFA annual conference has a reputation of the “most renowned high-end platform for education exchange”. The EFA is willing to work together with friends from all walks of life to boost the resource-sharing across this region and step towards a future of common prosperity and development in Asia.
