The International Youth Dance Festival, organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. The festival launched in 1987 and has had 12 successful events, it is increasingly becoming a remarkable cultural event. The biennial dance festival has become the stage where world youth dance groups get to showcase their talent and compete with each other. The festival strives to encourage youth to enhance understanding, deepen friendship and promote cultural exchanges. Dance Companies from dozens of countries and regions have participated in the international Youth Dance Festival such as: Estonia, Poland, Philippines, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Canada, the United States, Malaysia, Mongolia, Portugal, Japan, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Slovenia, Turkey, Thailand, Brunei, New Zealand, Singapore, India, the United Kingdom, mainland China and Hong Kong.
On the basis previous success, the International Youth Dance Festival will be held in Macau in July 2012 . The event is organized by the Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Asian Education Forum in Beijing, Macao Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau. The Dance Festival Registration process has ended.
The dance festival provides a stage for young dance enthusiasts from around the world in different countries and regions to establish friendships and learn through cultural exchanges.
