Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Application Guid Macao Foundation Program The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Macau Foundation Program is a full scholarship program donated by Macau Foundation to Education Forum for Asia to finance young students from Asia Pacific countries and regions. Education Forum for Asia administers the recruitment of the program, and the university takes charge of the routine management. There is 1 scholarships provided for the 2012/2013 academic year. 1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction 1) This program sponsors undergraduate study only. 2) Duration of scholarship: the regular time requested by the admitting institution. Please note that, the expense for repeating one year’s study will not be covered in this program, in case the student fails to pass to the next grade. 3) Courses will be taught in Chinese, English, or Portuguese. 2. Application 1) Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through Chinese Embassy in the host country, or through their own embassy in China to Education Forum for Asia. 2) Applicants should apply to both Education Forum for Asia Secretariat and the chosen university. 3) Please consult the official website of each institution for more information and their application deadlines. 3. Eligibility 1) Applicants must be of non-Chinese nationalities, who must be from Asia Pacific regions (not including countries or regions who have already had independent scholarship programs with Macau Foundation); and in good health. 2) Applicants must have completed at least senior high school studies, not be issued bachelor degree or above, and they have to be under the age of 25.
4. Scholarship Remarks 1) The scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses. 2) The successful candidate will be given monthly allowance of MOP 3600 (Macau currency), on 12-month basis. 3) Insurance, medical fees, and international travel expenses are at the applicant’s own cost. 5. Application Package Applicants must provide valid documents as below: 1) Application Form of Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Program, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English; as well as application form of applied university. 2) A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diplomas and academic records. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verifications. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. 3) A study plan written in English or Chinese which shall be no less than 400 words. 4) A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport. The above mentioned documents should be received by Education Forum for Asia before 31st March 2012. Application materials will NOT be returned to the applicant no matter (s)he is accepted or not. 6. Selection of Institutions and Discipline 1) Applicants for this program may choose up to 2 institutions at the same time. 2) Applicants have to choose among all full-time institutions and academies in Macau Special Administrative region. University of Macau and Institute for Tourism Studies are highly recommended. 3) Available disciplines include: Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Tourism/Hotel Management, Chinese and Portuguese, etc. 7. Approval and Notification
1) Education Forum for Asia will review and forward all qualified applications to Macau Foundation. The decision on the admission of applicants is remain at Macau Foundation. The application will be considered invalid and will not be processed if documents provided by applicants are incomplete or inconsistent with recruitment regulations. 2) In general, approved disciplines and duration of the study will not allow to be changed after the Offer of Admission has been issued to the applicant. 3) Education Forum for Asia will send out the Offer of Admission to successful applicants before 31st July 2012. 8.
