An Invitation to the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference

It is our great pleasure to cordially invite you to participate in the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference, which will be held in Xi’an City, China, November 16-17, 2009. With the support of the Ministry of Education of China, this year’s event will take place concurrently with the 2009 Euro-Asia Economic Forum (EAEF).An Aide-Memoir providing background information on the Forum is enclosed for your information.
 
Approved by China State Council, the 2009 Euro-Asia Economic Forum, under the theme of “Together, Steer out of Global Economic Crisis”, will be convened in Xi’an City, China, from 16 to 17 November, 2009. This event is jointly sponsored by Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat, the SCO Business Council, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Secretariat of Eurasian Economic Community, China Development Bank, and the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province etc. Among its four parallel meetings, namely, finance, energy, the Customs Commissioner Level Talks, the Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia will organize the educational meeting-the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference.
 
In 2007, on the invitation of Euro-Asia Economic Forum Secretariat, the Education Forum for Asia Organizing Committee organized the 2007 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference in Xi’an during the 2007 Euro-Asia Economic Forum. By bringing together more than 150 representatives to discuss and explore many issues facing the educational exchanges and progress in the region, the 2007 event was very impressive and fruitful in strengthening mutual understanding, good neighborly friendship and collaboration in many areas.   
 
With the view to further strengthen the previous achievements, the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference will bring together nearly 200 guests both at home and abroad including forum initiators, former politicians, educational officials, ambassadors and counselors, representatives of international organizations and foundations, educators, experts and representatives from educational institutions, and business leaders. Many topics will be discussed at this year’s conference such as Growing National Strength and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation under the Global Financial Crisis, Approach toward Improving the Employability of Talents, How to Educate Students with Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Vocational Education and Employment, Equality at Basic Educational Level, Education and Charity and Corporate Citizenship etc.  
 
In addition, the 4th Asian Student’s Photography Exhibition, which is jointly organized by Education Forum for Asia, China Youth Daily and China University Media Union, will be held during the conference period.

A formal and separate invitation containing further details on travel and accommodation procedures as well as assistance for obtaining a visa to China will be sent out to you by EAEF. Please inform us in advance if you would like to give a presentation in one of the sessions.
