The Education Forum for Asia, China Association for Privately-Funded Education, and China Education TV Station are jointly organizing the High-Level Forum on China’s Privately-Funded Education:  Innovative and Sustainable Development, to be held on 20-22 December,  2008 in Beijing, China. As co-organizers of the Forum, we have the honour to invite your Organization to support and actively participate in this event.  An Aide-Memoir providing background information on the Forum is enclosed for your information.

With the further implementation of the national development strategy of Reform and Opening up, “Rejuvenating China through Science and Technology”, China’s privately-funded education sector, along with the unprecedented expansion of China’s national economy which is growing both rapidly and expansively. By the end of 2007, there are more than 110,000 non-government-funded schools at all education levels with a total enrolment of no less than 27 million students. The immense scope of growth of China’s private education sector, the improvements of its legal system by the adoption of a series of favourable measures and regulations, and the currently deepening global financial crisis, (making the education sector a favourable area to invest in) all permit China’s private education sector a new opportunity to expand greatly in the foreseeable future.

This Forum will bring together educational officials of governments at various levels, senior business executives, members of civil society, including non-governmental organizations, members of academic institutions of private and public fund, representatives from venture capitals and foundations as well as media representatives.

Under the theme of Innovative and Sustainable Development, this conference will focus on many important and current topics in the private education field in China such as: laws and rules promulgation, the interactions between private and public education, the roles and functions of governments including the newly established association to encourage and regulate its progress, barriers and problems lying ahead, international fundraising, investments and mergers, lessons and gains in private education development, development strategies, brand-name development and management,  distance education in private sectors, international exchange and collaboration programs etc at all education levels of, Basic Education, Higher Education, Vocational Education in China.
