H.E. Mr. Lee Soo Sung, former Prime Minister, Republic of Korea
Dr. Lee Soo-Sung was a Professor of Law at Korea’s top university, Seoul National University. Later, he became the Dean of the Law School and afterward nominated and confirmed by the Korean National Assembly to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea on December 18, 1995. He became the 29th Prime Minister under President Kim Young-Sam as a member of the New Korea Party (NKP), which was originally the Democratic Liberal Party (DLP). Dr. Lee is often regarded by the Chinese government as a foster of harmonious Sino-Korean relations during his term as Prime Minister and beyond. At the moment, he serves as Chairman of the Board of several companies. The most notable position is Chairman of Fund Group for the Happiness of Peace Unification, an organization that aims for inter-Koreas cooperation and cultural exchanges. He is also one of the ardent leaders of the Korean unification movement. Dr. Lee is also President of the National Council of Saemaul-Undong (New Town) Movement in Korea and Chairman, the Society for Korean Folk Museum.
