The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Capital Normal University Program is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Capital Normal University. The Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia and Capital Normal University co-administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.
An unspecified amount of partial scholarships are provided for the 2009/2010 academic year.
1. Categories of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship and Language of Instruction
1) This program sponsors Bachelor, Masters, and PhD degree programs.
2) The duration of the scholarship is 1 year. (with a possibility of renewal based on academic performance)
3) All courses will be taught in Chinese. Applicants applying for economics courses should have intermediate level proficiency in Chinese language before starting the formal study of a major.
2. Application
Applicants should apply to Education Forum for Asia via the Chinese embassy in their home country or the embassy of their home country in China. Applications will be received by the end of May, 2009.
3. Eligibility
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
2) The following are the requirements for specific programs:
For the Bachelor Degree program, the applicant must be under 40 years of age and have completed high school
For the Masters Degree program, the applicant must be under 40 and have an HSK proficiency level of at least 7
For the Doctorate program, the applicant must be under 45 years of age and have an HSK proficiency level of at least 7
4. Details of the Scholarship
1) This partial scholarship only covers tuition (or research) fees.
2) The student will be responsible for all other expenses. This includes the following expenses:
double room accommodation 10,000 RMB; basic food expenses 10,000 RMB; city travel and other incidental expenses 5,000 RMB; and insurance charges 600 RMB per year.
5. Application Materials
The applicants must provide the following materials filled in correctly and truthfully.
1) Application form for Capital Normal University – Study in China, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or English.
2) Notarized copy of the applicant’s highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or are already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.
3) A copy of your Chinese HSK language level certification.
4) A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form filled out in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.
5) A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.
The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia, at the latest, by June 1st, 2009. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.
II. Approval and Notification
1)Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Education Forum for Asia will directly contact the applicant or the applicant’s guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Capital Normal University and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete.
2)Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.
3)Education Forum for Asia will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received.
