APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE ASIA FOREIGN STUDY SCHOLARSHIP (MACAU FOUNDATION) The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Macau Foundation) is a full scholarship program sponsored by the Macau Foundation to finance student youth and scholars from Asian countries. The Education Forum for Asia (EFA) and the Macau Foundation administer recruitment and relevant Chinese admission institutions take charge of the routine management of the program. 3 full scholarships are provided for applicants from Asia-Pacific Region (applicants from mainland China are unavailable for this program) for the 2009/2010academic year.
1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship and Language of Instruction 1) This program sponsors undergraduate students only; 2) The duration of this program depends on the regular time limit of the admitting institutions. Please note that expense for repeating a year’s study will not be covered in this program in case that the student fails to go up to the next grade; 3) Courses will be taught in Chinese, English, Portuguese. 2. Application By extending the application materials required to the Education Forum for Asia by the deadline of each admitting institution involved, applicants at the same time could apply to all the four institutions of University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies. Eligibility 1) Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals from Asia-Pacific region in good health, except for nationals having scholarship provided by Macau Foundation; 2) Educational background and age limits: Applicants must be under the age of 25. 4. Details of the Scholarship 1) The full scholarship covers tuition fee (including registration fee, experimentation cost, research fee); 2) A 3600 Macau patacas living allowance is paid monthly; 3) Accommodation is provided; 4) Insurance, Medical care and international traveling are at students’ own expense. 5. Application Materials All applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully. 1)Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Macau Foundation) (printed by the Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia),one original and one photocopy, in either Chinese or English; 2) A notarized copy of highest diploma. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have translations in Chinese or English; 3)Transcripts (notarized version) ;Transcripts in languages other than Chinese and English must have translations in Chinese or English; 4) The photocopy of valid passport, the front page The abovementioned materials should be received by the Organizing Committee of Education Forum for Asia by May 30. Application materials will not be returned regardless of whether or not the applicants are accepted by the Chinese institution.
6. Selection of Institutions and Discipline Applicants for this program may choose 1 institutions and 1 discipline among institutions and academies appointed by Macau Foundation(University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies). Available disciplines include: Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Tourism/Hotel Management, Chinese and Portuguese, etc. 7.Approval and Notification 1) The EFA will review all the application materials from the appointed authorities when the application for the above-mentioned University is approved . The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicants are not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with the recruitment regulations, or are incomplete. The eligible application materials will be forwarded to Macau Foundation. 2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of studies are, in principle, not to be changed. 3) The EFA will send the List of Enrolled Students and Admission Notice to the relevant dispatching authorities within a week after documents get received, so as to have these documents forwarded to the students. 8.
