Application Procedures for The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship – Shandong University Program The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Shandong University Program, China) was set up by Shandong University of China The Education Forum for Asia (EFA) and Shandong University co-administers the recruitment and the routine management of the program. 2 partial scholarships will be provided for Asia-Pacific countries for 2008-2009 academic year. 1. Categories of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Languages of Instruction 1) This program sponsors only Scholars for Chinese Language study for the duration of 1 year. 2) Courses will be taught in Chinese without any language requirement to applicants. 2. Application Applicants should apply to the Chinese embassy in their home countries, applications will be forwarded to the Education Forum for Asia (individual application will not be accepted). Applications will be accepted up to June 1st, 2008. 3. Eligibility 1) Applicants must be nationals from New Zealand, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore or Mongolia in good health. 2) Educational background and age limits: Applicants for Chinese language study must have at least a high school diploma and under the age of 40. 3) Education Forum for Asia will enroll on the basis of competitive selection. 4. Details of the Scholarship 1) This partial scholarship program covers registration fee and tuition fee. 2) The students will be responsible for all other expense (These expense include single-room accommodation for oversea student 35~70 RMB/day, food expense 9,000 RMB/year in general, intercity travel and other incidental expenses 6,000 RMB/year, insurance charge 600 RMB/year). 5. Application Materials All Applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully. 1) Filled Application Form for Asia foreign Study Scholarship (printed by Education Forum for Asia), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English. 2) Filled Shandong University Oversea Students Application Form for Study in China, in Chinese or English. 3) A notarized copy of highest diploma and academic records. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have translations in Chinese or English. 4) A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words. 5) The Foreigner Physical Examination Form filled out in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination. 6) The photocopy of valid passport., the front page The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia by the latest June 1st, 2008. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not. 6. Approval and Notification 1) Education Forum for will review all application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Forum will directly contact the application or the applicant guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Shandong University, and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the application materials are inconsistent with recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete. 2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed. 3) Education Forum for Asia will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received. 7.
