Application Procedures for The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship – Hainan Hua Ye Project Strategy Co. Ltd. / Hainan University Program The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Hainan Hua Ye Scholarship Program) is a scholarship program sponsored by Hainan Hua Ye Project Strategy Co. Ltd., Hainan University Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the College of International Cultural Exchange administer the recruitment and routine management of the program. 20 scholarships are provided for Asian countries for the 2008/2009 academic year. 1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship and Language of Instruction 1) This program is only available for bachelor degree study and Chinese language study. 2) The duration of this scholarship depends on the major for which the candidates apply, varying from 1 year to 4 years. 3) For bachelor degree study applicants, applicants’ Chinese language level must meet the need for academic course tutoring as all courses will be taught in Chinese only. 2. Application Applicants should apply to the Education Forum for Asia (Individual Application will not be accepted). Applications are accepted up to June 1st, 2008. 3. Eligibility 1) Applicants must be nationals of non-Chinese nationals. 2) Applicants must be in good health. 3) Applicants must have high school diploma or above and be under the age of 30. 4) Education Forum for Asia will enroll on the basis of competitive selection. 4. Details of the Scholarship 1) The scholarship will cover of tuition fee and all accommodations during the whole study process. 2) Admitted applicants will be responsible for all other expenses. 5. Application Materials All Applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully. 1) Filled Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Hainan Hua Ye Scholarship Program) (printed by Education Forum for Asia), in Chinese or in English 2) Filled Application Form for Admission to Hainan University (printed by International Cultural Exchange College of Hainan University) in Chinese or in English. 3) A notarized copy of highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have translations in Chinese or English. 4) Two letters of recommendation written in Chinese or English, preferably by applicants’ tutors or employers. 5) A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words. 6) The Foreigner Physical Examination Form filled out in English. Medical examinations must cover all the items listed on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination. 7) The photocopy of valid passport, the front page The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia by the latest June 1st, 2008. Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not. 6. Approval and Notification 1) The Education Forum for Asia will review all the application materials from the appointed authorities and is authorized to make necessary adjustments on the applied institutions, disciplines and duration of study. Forum will directly contact the application or the applicant guarantor whenever necessary. Qualified applications will be forwarded to Hainan Hua Ye Project Strategy Co., Ltd, and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicants are not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with the recruitment regulations, or are incomplete. 2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of studies are, in principle, not to be changed. 3) Education Forum for Asia will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant within a week after documents get received. 7.
