From July 28th 29th, 2013, Willie Woo, regional councilor of Ontario, Canada and Deputy Mayor of Clarington City, led a Canadian delegation to attend “Understanding and Dialogue” in Jiangxi province, China. The delegation paid a visit to several education and cultural institutions in Beijing and Hebei Province with the arrangement of Education Forum for Asia.
On July 28th, the delegation was received by Mr. Wu Dansheng, member of Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee, Mr. Zhang Jieting, member of the national committee of CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and president of Siwa Group, Ms. Wang Hua, deputy secretary general of Beijing Guangcai Program and Education Fund, and representatives of Beijing 21st Century International School. The delegation paid a visit to Beijing 21st Century International School and Manet Meadow International Club. The five members in the Canadian delegation were informed of the facilities, school enrollment, international exchanges, etc. of the international school. In Manet Club, the delegation learned about the original concepts and the functional orientation of the Club, and discussed the real estate and cultural programs of Shibo Real Estate with Ms. Jin Xishun, president of Shibo.
On July 29th, with the support of the Education Department of Hebei Province, the delegation visited Langfang No.1 Middle School where the delegation had a discussion with the vice-president and several other leaders of the school and Chen Baogang, Deputy Director General of the Education Bureau of Langfang City. Vice-president Wang Jinzhong presented a video about the daily management of the school and its 10-year development plan; in particular, he shared the school’s experience in promoting international exchanges and its demands and future plans in these respects. What’s more, Ms. Miao, vice-president of Langfang No.8 Middle School, gave a brief introduction to the school’s international exchange programs. During the panel discussion in Langfang No.1 Middle School, Mr. Woo introduced the education system in Ontario, and other delegation members also introduced their programs. Ms. Li Yanqun, coordinator of the Education Department of Hebei Province in Canada, and Mr. Chen Baogang, deputy director general of the Education Bureau of Langfang, also took part in the panel discussion. Both Ms. Li and Mr. Chen hoped that Education Forum for Asia can introduce more high-quality education resources to Hebei Province, especially Langfang, and provide more resources and opportunities for in-depth international communication.
The visit has enhanced communication and mutual understanding, especially in the area of education in both countries, and this will improve mutual friendship and build bridges for educational cooperation between China and Canada as we move forward.
