Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Application Guid
Capital Normal University Program
The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Capital Normal University Program is a scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Capital Normal University. The Education Forum for Asia Secretariat and Capital Normal University co-administer the recruitment of the program.
There are 2 scholarships provided for the 2012/2013 academic year.
1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction
1) This program sponsors Chinese language scholars, bachelor degree scholars.
2) Duration of scholarship: 1 semester or 1 year.
3) Courses will be taught in Chinese. For bachelor degree scholars, the mandarin level should meet the requirement of applied major; no prerequisite of mandarine level for Chinese language scholars.
2. Application
1) Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through Chinese Embassy in the host country, or through their own embassy in China to Education Forum for Asia.
2) The deadline for all applications is 20th May, 2012.
3. Eligibility
1) Applicants must be of non-Chinese nationalities and in good health.
2) Requirements on the education background and age of applicants:
* For Chinese language scholar, who must have completed at least senior high school studies and be under the age of 40.
* For bachelor degree applicants, who must have completed senior high school studies and be under the age of 40.
3) Requirements on Chinese language and test:
* No specific request on Chinese language capabilities for Chinese language scholar.
* Bachelor degree applicants of Chinese Language, should have reached HSK level 3, and applicants of other disciplines have to reach HSK level 7.
4. Scholarship Remarks
1) The scholarship covers partial or all tuition fees, please see detail requirements as below:
Chinese language scholars have to complete the whole academic year of study, scholarship of the 1st semester will be offered by the university; at the end of the 2nd semester, if the student has passed through all the examinations and his/her absence is less than 12 classes, scholarship of 2nd semester will be offered.
Bachelor degree scholars have to complete 2 academic years of study, scholarship of the 1st academic year will be offered by the university; at the end of the 2nd academic year, if the student has passed through all the examinations and his/her absence is less than 12 classes, scholarship of 2nd academic year will be offered.
2) Any other expenses are at the applicant’s own cost. Estimated costs including:
450 RMB registration fee will be charged to the bachelor degree scholar; Capital Normal University has double room dorms of a service apartment that charges of 70 RMB/person/day if paid by semester, and 100 RMB/person/day during vocations; 10,000 RMB for food per year; 5,000 RMB per year for city public transport and miscellaneous expenses; 600 RMB for insurance each year.
5. Application Package
Applicants must provide valid documents as below:
1) Application Form of Capital Normal University (to download via http://study.ciecnu.cn/), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.
2) A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diplomas and academic records. If the applicant has already enrolled in a school in China, they should also provide verifications from the school. Applicants can not hold working visa, and will not be allowed to work during their study. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.
3) The proof of Chinese language capability.
4) The Foreigner Medical Check Form should be filled out in English. The medical check is required to foreign scholars who pursue their study in China for more than 6 months (6 months included). Applicants must have all items listed on the Form checked. The incomplete notes, signature without the attending physician or official stamp of the hospital, or the absence of a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The check results will be valid for 6 months.
5) A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.
The above mentioned documents should be received by Education Forum for Asia before 20th May 2012. Application materials will NOT be returned to the applicant no matter (s)he is accepted or not.
6. Approval and Notification
1) Education Forum for Asia will review and forward all qualified applications to Capital Normal University. The decision on the admission of applicants is remain at the university. The application will be considered invalid and will not be processed if documents provided by applicants are incomplete or inconsistent with recruitment regulations.
2) In general, approved disciplines and duration of the study will not allow to be changed after the Offer of Admission has been issued to the applicant.
3) Education Forum for Asia will send out the Offer of Admission and Visa Application Form for Studying in China to successful applicants before 31st July 2012.
