Shandong University Program

The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship - Shandong University Program is a scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Shandong University. The Education Forum for Asia Secretariat and Shandong University co-administer the recruitment of the program.

There are 2 scholarships provided for the 2012/2013 academic year.

1.         Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction

1)        This program sponsors only Chinese language scholars.

2)        Duration of scholarship is 1 semester.

3)        Courses will be taught in Chinese, no prerequisite on Chinese for the admission.

2.         Application

1)        Applicants can apply directly to Education Forum for Asia, through Chinese Embassy in the host country, or through their own embassy in China to Education Forum for Asia.

3)        The deadline for all applications is 20th May, 2012.

3.         Eligibility

1)        Applicants must be of non-Chinese nationalities and in good health.

2)        Requirements on the education background and age of applicants: the Chinese language scholar, who must have completed at least senior high school studies and be under the age of 40.

4.         Scholarship Remarks

1)        The scholarship covers tuition fee and registration fee.

2)        Any other expenses are at the applicant’s own cost. Estimated costs including:

           40-70 RMB/student/day for single room dorm in the campus; 9RMB per year for food; 5,000 RMB per year for city public transport and miscellaneous expenses; 600 RMB for insurance each year.

5.         Application Package

           Applicants must provide valid documents as below:

1)        Application Form of Shandong University (see attachment 1), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.

2)        A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diplomas and academic records. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verifications. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.

3)        A study plan in China written in English or Chinese which shall be no less than 200 words.

4)        The Foreigner Medical Check Form (see attachment 2) should be filled out in English. The medical check is required to foreign scholars who pursue their study in China for more than 6 months (6 months included). Applicants must have all items listed on the Form checked. The incomplete notes, signature without the attending physician or official stamp of the hospital, or the absence of a stamped photograph of the applicant will be considered invalid. The check results will be valid for 6 months.

5)        A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.

The above mentioned documents should be received by Education Forum for Asia before 20th May 2012. Application materials will NOT be returned to the applicant no matter (s)he is accepted or not.  

6.         Approval and Notification

1)        Education Forum for Asia will review and forward all qualified applications to Shandong University. The decision on the admission of applicants is remain at the university. The application will be considered invalid and will not be processed if documents provided by    applicants are incomplete or inconsistent with recruitment regulations.

2)        In general, approved disciplines and duration of the study will not allow to be changed after the Offer of Admission has been issued to the applicant.

3)        Education Forum for Asia will send out the Offer of Admission and Visa Application Form for Studying in China to successful applicants before 31st July 2012.
