Asian Students Photography Exhibition 2009
Initiated in Beijing China at the 2006 Annual Conference of the Education Forum for Asia, the Asian Students Photography Exhibition is open to young students in the Asia Pacific Region and beyond. It is committed to carrying forward an enormous richness of Asia’s ancient and modern cultures, to displaying the great diversity of customs and traditions, the magnificent geographic and demographic appearances of in the region, to promoting exchange in artistic and aesthetic photography, and to spreading the values of Asian cultures.
The 1st Asian Students Photography Exhibition in 2006 was very successful with great responses from all circles in the region. The 2nd Asian Students Photography Exhibition, from 7th to 10th in November 2007, held in Xi’an city, Shaanxi province, China with the theme of ‘Students - Nation - Nature’. The awarding ceremony is on Nov. 9, 2007 during the 2007 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference. The 3rd Asian Students Photography Exhibition(cell phone camera group) in 2008 , interpret the concrete world through the motional moments sensitively and emotionally captured by the students with the theme of “This Year”.
The 4th Asian Students Photography Exhibition 2009 will launch Sep 10th, the awarding ceremony will be held in Xi’an. With the theme of “ Expression of Happiness”, this event also aims to generate and cultivate students’ interests, and creativity in the art of photography by providing an excellent opportunity for students in the region and beyond to use their cameras, in their unique perspectives, to observe the changing society, to touch the distinctive cultures, traditions and customs, history of their home countries, to feel the growth and rising of Asia, and to record the happy and memorable moments they find.
This event is hosted by the Education Forum for Asia, China Youth Daily and China University Media Union, and is organized by, Education Forum for Asia Training Centre.
The Education Forum for Asia has been established as a platform to address issues facing the development of education in Asia and to highlight and support innovative approaches to educational development goals, education policymaking and international cooperation in education. The Forum also works to address social and community development concerns in the Asia region and to promote mutual understanding between nations through cultural and scholarly exchanges.
The Chinese Scholarship Council and Boao Forum for Asia joined with UNESCO to collaborate on developing a conference focused on international education and the development of global talent and human resources in the Asia region. In cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Education, all three organizations worked to further develop these ideas into the creation of an Education Forum. On the 5th and 6th of December, 2003 a Meeting of Initiators for the Education Forum for Asia was held in Beijing. The seven initiators of the Forum are H.E. Mr. Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, H.E. Mr. Sergey Terechshenko, former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Lee Soo Sung, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Mr. Kirti Nidhi Bista, former Prime Minister of Nepal, H.E. Mrs. Jenny Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Sheldon Shaeffer, Director of UNESCO Bangkok, Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, and Mr. Vitor Ng, Chairman of the Macao Foundation, China.
Through years of efforts the Forum has been growing enormously in its influences worldwide.

Award Ceremony: Winners will be announced on Nov. 17, 2009 during the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference in Xi’an, China, at which the award ceremony be held.
The 4th Asian Students Photography Exhibition: The exhibition for the excellent works will be held during the 2009 Education Forum for Asia and Euro-Asia Educational Cooperation Conference in Xi’an, China.
Eligibility:
Any student in the Asian region and even beyond is welcome to participate in this exhibition. There is no limitation to age. Schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions that have students participating in this exhibition are eligible to win
Requirements on photos:
The subject of photos should be clear and relevant to the theme-- ‘Expression of Happiness” and the ideological contents should be healthy. Photographs should show the energetic, creative quality of Asian students, illustrating the distinctive features of their home countries, the beauty of nature. The title and a brief description of entries are welcomed. Each contestant is allowed to submit between one to five photos each (no more than 5 photos).
Guidelines for Submission:
1. The competitors have to log onto the official website of the Exhibition www.asia- photo.org to register and then submit the works online themselves. ( Registration details and photo-uploading procedures are available on the website.)
2. After submitting the photos online, the system will show the information of successful uploading. Then the staffs will examine the works. Those which meet the requirements will appear on the page of work display as soon as possible, those which are irrelevant to the activity or don’t meet the requirements will be deleted.
3. The digital information of the original photos must be kept, or they will be regarded as invalid.
4. The file type of the uploaded photos must be JPEG; the max capacity of the work should be no larger than 500K or 2048 pixels.
5. After the winners are announced, they should send their own valid information, the photocopy of ID and the original digital photo of the maximum size to the assigned mailbox asia_photo@163.com, obligatory for prizing procedures. The award will be regarded as invalid if the winner can’t afford documents mentioned above or the information is at variance with the original registered information.
Winners and Prizes:
One grand prize winner, 3 second place winners, and 8 third place winners will be selected. The exhibition judges will also select 25 Excellent Work Awards.
1. • Grand Prize winner will receive a certificate along with a prize package with equivalent valued at of 5000 RMB.
2. • Second place winners will receive a certificate along with a prize package valued at with equivalent value of 2000 RMB.
3. • Third place Winners will receive a certificate as well as a prize package with equivalent valued at of 500 RMB.
4. •Excellent Work Award winners will receive a certificate as well as a prize package with equivalent valued at of 200 RMB.
Judging:
1. The judgment shall be based on both the ballots of netizens and the expertise.
2. The website of the Photo Exhibition will show all the contest works according to the time they receive them so that the public can browse, judge and cast their votes.
3. At the end of photo collection, the ballots of netizens will be the basis for the works to enter the next round. Those whose ballot numbers the top-600 will have the qualification to go further.
4. At last, the contest committee will make a judgments and decide the prize level from among the 600 works that the net friends have been chosen.
Judging Criteria:
1. The works should have clear subjects and sound contents; they should also be imbued with a strong smack of new era and with distinctive national and folk features.
2. Works with original and different styles, of different schools and those which have visual impacts are encouraged.
3. The works should have rich contents. They should express the theme of “Student, Nation and Nature” from different angles and different levels. They should also have a deep connotation.
Matters to Attend:
1. The competitors must have the copyright of the contest works. The works must be owned by the competitor himself and have not been published before. The competitors must not copy or imitate others’ work. If they are informed against and it is true after investigation, the competitors will be disqualified and the canceled award will not be supplemented any longer. If the award has been drawn, the organizers will replay it.
2. The copyright of the prizewinning works (except signature right) belongs to the sponsors. The sponsors have rights to use the prizewinning works in the relevant spectacle, publication, advertisement, publicity and so on without paying extra remuneration. Nobody else can reproduce them or use them for commercial purposes without permission
3. The competitors should bear all the legal responsibilities for the consequences caused by portrait right, honors, copyright related to the contest works. The sponsors have rights to ask for the competitors to recover losses and they are not liable for the consequences caused by this.
4. If the contest works get involved in immoral contents such as pornography, violence and bloodiness, the sponsors have rights to remove them.
5. Our company will not assume responsibility if the award is damaged or lost after they are sent.
6. Staffs of the host organizations and organizers of this contest can not participate in this contest.
7. Once people take part in the competition, they are thought to have admitted the above-mentioned regulations.
8. The sponsors have the final right for interpretation.
